My First Victim

The idea of cooking and forcing my close friends to try it, have been lingering for awhile in my mind. So on Saturday, after texting me that he is in the office working, I decided to invite Witwicky to come to my place for pesto pasta and try as well my version of pan grilled chicken. He arrived at about 3:30ish in the apartment while I was about to drain the liquid where the pasta was boiling for about 10 minutes. I reheated the pesto, mix the pasta, then plated it. I wanted to be creative and tried to make a swirl  of pasta as an added presentation. Witwicky and I was talking shit about lots of stuff (which we normally do and we call it as "usapang tanga") while I was preparing the chicken. I stupidly disregarded the fact that chicken breasts are thick meat that need pounding to make it tender and probably an overnight process of marination to allow the flavors of the different spices to seep in through the meat. So after quickly marinating the meat, I placed it right away in a preheated non stick pan and wait until both sides achieved the golden brownish color. I cut the meat into finger-like strips and was pleased that it was somehow tender, an indication that it was grilled well.

(Witwicky personally chose this pic to be published in this blog)
The fun part came when it was time for Witwicky to try and judge the food.
Ace: Maanghang ang pesto baka sira na 'to.
Me: Eh maanghang talaga yan nilagyan kasi ng chili.
Ace: E diba matagal na 'to?
Me: Tanga bago lang yan gift saken yan ni Amie nung birthday ko.
Ace: Eh matagal na nga.
Me: Hindi nga naka-ref naman yan eh.
Kumain kasi kami nila Rhiel and Je sa Avenetto nung isang araw...
Me: Eh diba sabi mo saken gawa ako pesto for Saturday? di bale na...O try mo naman yung chicken dali!!!!
Ace: Uuuuhhhhmmmm
Me: Ano?
Ace: Walang lasa eh
Me: Sigurado ka?
Ace: Oo ang dry ng chicken kaya
Me: Eh ganun naman talaga pag chicken breasts diba?
Ace: Ano ka? Hindi kaya
Me: Kahit yung lemon hindi mo nalasahan?
Ace: Aaahhh lemon nga! Yun lang nalalasahan ko. Alam ko na anong tatawagin mo dito... Lemonated chicken!
Me: Tanga walang term na lemonated
Ace: Eh lasang lemon eh
Me: O sige di bale na... Rate mo na lang from 1 to 10 yung kinain mo
Ace: Ok sige... Siguro 6
Me: Ang baba naman nyan! Taasan mo naman ng konti
Ace: Ayoko nga eh hindi naman masarap yung chicken...
Me: Sige na gawin mong 6.5
Ace: O sige 6.2
Me: 6.5 na para pag rounded off 7 na sya.
Ace: Bahala ka

End of Conversation

At about 5:15 we went to Citibank to meet our driver Hugh who is excited and nervous at the same time to play with my regular badminton club mates (it was his first time to play real badminton game). Here's the exact message I received from him on Sunday after playing 8 sets of badminton:
So my right foot, right big toe, shoulder, back, calves, and neck all hurt today. It was awesome. Thanks!
